Fab Five Friday

**If you’re here looking for the Harry Potter wand tutorial, scroll down a bit**

“Hello again.  Hello….”

Yes. I am a Neil Diamond Fan.  Love him.  Not that that had anything to do with anything, but now you know a random fact about me.  There will be a quiz later.  ;)

This week on Pinterest, I found lots of fun stuff.  I even tried some of it.  Here we go.

7 Can Taco Soup.  Mmmm…delish.  We had it for dinner last night and the night before.  I heart leftovers.  It was even better last night.  I think it was the 10+ hours it spent in the crock pot.

I pinned this off of one of my friends’ blogs.  She is a lot of fun.  She has awesome in-laws!  Hi, Rachel!!  :)

Wow.  This is burning up on Pinterest.  It has a whopping 1,416 likes; 29 comments, and 7,582 repins…and counting.  My Love pinboard now has 93 followers.  Craziness.  I just pin random things I love onto that bad boy!  So fun!  I love making new friends!  :)

Speaking of laughter being the best calorie burner, I can not look at this without busting out laughing.

Oh goodness!!  I wish I had one of these binkies when my boys were babies!  Ha ha ha!

Since my boys are no longer babies and my oldest is eleven (sniff, sniff) I pinned this for his Harry-Potter-11-year-old-birthday-party.

These wands were made out of chopsticks, hot glue, and paint.  I could.not.find.chopsticks.anywhere.  So, we improvised.  We used bamboo skewers and a 2 inch piece of dowel.  The Hubsters drilled a small hole in the top of the dowel so we could glue the pointy end of the skewer into the handle.

Eleven-11-year-old-boys+pointy objects=DISASTER!!!

Here’s how our wands looked before the paint:harry potter wands (1)

We decorated the handles with different combinations of rubber bands, macaroni noodles, rice, toothpicks, small beads, and TONS of hot glue.  It was a fun little crafty date with my older boys.

Here’s how they looked after they were painted.  Hubby painted them with spray paint.  In the freezing cold.  All because of my stupid wrist.  My hero!

We haven’t finished painting all of them.  We still need some blue and brown wands.  This is going to be a fun favor for the party guests.  I spent $4 (on a can of spray paint) for 14 wands.  (I had to make some for my own boys.)  Not a bad deal!

And finally, this.

WholeStorageUnit

I don’t have a mud room.  I wish I did.  What I DO have is a few coat pegs and an apple bushel to hold shoes by the kitchen door.  It.Is.Awful.  I want this hallway storage solution.  Each member of my family could have their own cubby.  With cute baskets!  Love!  Hubby is even on board with my idea!  I’ll let you know how it turns out!
