What I Wore Sunday: Week 52

WAHOO!!

I did it!  I actually found/sewed/refashioned/handmade FIFTY TWO different things to wear to Church.  Crazy.  I didn’t wear the same thing twice for an entire year.

That was fun.  Oh wait.  I still have one more week to show you…

…52 weeks of shaking up the wardrobe…

The Rules:

  1. Wear a different outfit every Sunday.

  2. Incorporate at least one article of clothing or accessory that was either refashioned, sewn myself, or handmade.

  3. Outfits can be worn more than once; just not the same way

week 52

Again, the refashioned maternity to non-maternity sweater.  I wear this a lot.  I can’t help it.  It’s soft, comfy, cute and warm!  I’m also wearing these cute earrings I made several months ago.

A lot of ladies from my Church knew what I was doing, and every week they’d ask me what it was that I had refashioned/sewed/handmade that week.  It really was a fun challenge, and now I’ve got an entire closet full of different things to wear to Church this coming year.

Looking back, I’d have to say that my all time favorite outfit was this one:

week 35

I wore it on Week 35.  I just loved everything about this outfit.  The ruffled tank from a nightgown.  The lettuce-edged cardigan from a tee shirt.  The cheapola pencil skirt from Wal-Mart.  This was a good ‘un.

But wait…

week 6

I also really, really liked Week 6’s outfit.  I made that skirt from a little boy’s tee shirt from the clearance rack.

Oh, and this one…

week 26

Week 26’s tiered skirt from a tee shirt…

…and…

week 27

…week 27’s ensemble.  I just love that skirt I made!

Oh, and how could I forget this one?!

week 34

I just love this skirt refashioned from an old lady nightgown for week 34.

So fun, and so hard to pick a favorite.  It was a fun challenge, and thanks for sticking with me through it.

With so much to choose from, I wonder what I’ll wear Sunday?!?

Shabby Apple dress--worn yet another way.  I’m so glad I bought that!  :)  I’m wearing it with that maternity sweater I turned into a a 3/4 sleeved non-maternity sweater.  I liked this outfit.  It was cute, comfy and warm.  What more could I have asked for?!

This skirt was a few dollars off the clearance rack.  Fabulous!  …except that it was a sixe XXL.  No worries!  I bought it anyway and took it in at the side seams.  It’s now a medium.  I also made my necklace.

I got a lot of compliments on this outfit, but it was just okay for me.  I don’t love the way the shirt fits, hence the belt.  The belt is cute and all, but I think I just need to see what I can do to make the shirt fit me better.

I’ll get to work on that right away…

See ya next week!

This is yet another way to wear that cute dress I bought from Shabby Apple.  The only handmade things I’m wearing in this ensemble are my watch:

…and my earrings:

Still, I really liked this outfit.  That dress sure has a lot of possibilities!  :)
What are your wardrobe staples?  Do you have one item that can be worn several different ways?

This pink cardigan was a turtleneck sweater I’ve had for years.  I turned it into a cardigan by cutting it up the center and sewing a decorative stitch along the raw edge.  I love how the center durned out scallop-ey.  Fun.
Well, we’re almost to the end of this 52 week challenge.  It’s been a lot of fun.  I’ve really enjoyed it.
What have you been refashioning or sewing?

I really love this sweater I’m wearing.  I bought it when I was pregnant with Monkey, so yes, it’s a maternity sweater.  I didn’t want to get rid of it, so I took it in at the side seams.  I also turned the sleeves into 3/4 sleeves.  This was a fun outfit to wear, although, next time, I’m wearing tights or tall boots.  It’s waaaayyy too cold for bare legs!  :)
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!  :)

This scarf I’m wearing is a no-sew scarf from a tee shirt.  It’s so easy to make.  The tutorial is coming soon.  The tank I’m wearing under the cardigan USED to be a cute maternity baby doll style top.  I just took in the side seams so that it would fit better.

I’m also wearing these fun earrings I made a few months ago:

This is my ruffle refashion shirt.  I posted that tutorial several months ago.  This shirt gets a lot of mileage!  I added the ruffles to hide a pizza stain on my shirt.

Have you ever ruined an outfit with your inability to put food in your mouth?  No?  That’s just me?  Well, that’s embarrassing!  :)

Oh.  Almost forgot.  I’m also wearing these earrings and watch I made a while ago:

I bought this skirt at a department store off the clearance rack for $8.00.  The regular price was about $70.00.  I couldn’t pass it up, but it wasn’t my size.  I bought it anyway.  I took it in and made a new waistband for it.  It’s just a simple waistband with a zipper.  I love this skirt.

Anyway, that’s what I wore.  What about you?

On Sunday, I wore this:

week 43

This skirt is one I made from a men’s tee shirt.  You can’t see so well in the picture, but it’s a dusty blue color.  It just has a simple shirred waistband.  I love shirred waistbands.  So comfy.  I also made my earrings, but you can’t see them.  Here’s a picture:

I wore this with these cute boots:

polka dot skirt with boots

I really like this outfit.  Believe it or not, I didn’t buy this skirt off the clearance rack.  I didn’t alter it, either.  Or the shirt.  Shocker, I know.  What I did do was make the black undershirt that I’m wearing underneath.  It’s just a simple knit cap sleeved undershirt.  I also made my necklace and earrings.

Have you handmade or refashioned anything fabulous this week?

Yeah.  It’s a bad picture.  It was taken by a five year old.  Sorry.  This cardigan I am wearing is a v-neck sweater I bought off the clearance rack.  Surprised?  Me neither.  I cut it up the center, added some grey knit bias tape to the raw edges, and added a cute, big button.  I’ve got a tutorial for that coming soon.

What did you wear Sunday?

Remember the scarf I wore last week?  I made that from a maxi dress I bought off the clearance rack.  I turned the bottom of that dress into this skirt.  I loved this outfit.  It was comfy, cute, and warm.  It also makes me look like I weigh 300+ pounds.  Boo!  Maybe I’ll take the skirt in a bit more.  I’ll see what I can do with it.

See y’all next week!
