Show Me a Story

Hello friends! This weekend flew by! It was a lot of fun, and I loved not having to think about all of my to-do lists for just a little while. It was so nice! Now, it’s back to the grind, and get back to work and the real world. *sigh* It’s funny to me, because the past few times we’ve gone on “long” car rides (over 20 minutes is considered long to my chill’uns), they get really antsy, and the only things that keeps them from going crazy are playing on mommy & daddy’s iPhones, or having mommy/daddy tell them stories. I don’t really like letting tem play with my phones all the time, so I’ve been telling them fairy tales, some of their favorite books, stories from our childhood, and made up stories. They love it. My voice gets hoarse from all the stories! I actually told them stories on our drive to Bear Lake on Saturday for about 1 1/2 hours straight. Whoa. So when we were asked if we wanted to receive a copy of this new book coming out, and give one away to our readers, I said YES! I’m always trying to come up with fun activities and crafts for my girls, and they are still a little young for some of the activities, but my 4 year old especially loves it!

It’s called Show Me a Story, and the whole idea is to get the kids coming up with their own stories, and ways to tell the stories. I’ve been babysitting a 2 year old the past 2 weeks, and I was running out of fun easy ideas, so I opened this book and there was an activity to cut up some magazines and glue them to a paper, and then have the kids tell a story. My toddler was thrilled to cut up my catalogs and magazines from the mail, but somehow, all the stories had to do were with the Disney princesses, and other Disney things they cut out from my Disney Movie Club membership catalog. (I forgot to get pictures, sorry!) So I heard stories about Cars, and the Incredibles, and then princesses. But, they had fun, and I plan on doing more of them, especially during the colder months, and with my oldest starting preschool tomorrow (*sob* or HOORAY!! depending on the moment), I’m sure she’ll appreciate these activities more, and they could get her motivated to learn how to read too! So all in all, a very fun book, and I definitely will be using this a lot more.
Would any of you like to win yourselves a copy of this book? Do you homeschool, do preschool, or just do crafts/activities with your kids? You’ll probably love this book! Just leave me a comment below, and tell me some of your favorite activities you’ve done with your kids/students/grandchildren/what have you. We’ll have this contest go for a week (closing on Sunday night at 11:59 MST), and then we’ll announce the winner next Monday, September 17. US residents for winners only, sorry! Last little tip is there are a bunch of other blogs doing giveaways, and the main blog at Inside Storey is giving away a book! So you have tons of chances to win! Go here to see all the participating blogs, and for a second chance to win! Thanks for reading!!
Disclosure: I was given a copy of the book to review, but all opinions and thoughts are my own.
By the way, I have a few projects all finished that I’m SUPER excited about, so be sure to stay tuned!! Want a few teasers? Remember those pictures that are super close ups, and you have to figure out what it is? So it’s kind of a game! Have a great Monday!

  1. Looks like a great book full of fun ideas! I don't do nearly enough fun, crafty things with my kids so I'd love to have this book to spark some ideas. I know my 4 year old would love it!

  2. I love to make rhyming silly songs or stories for my kiddos. They love it even though they are getting older. Now, they add their own lines to the rhyme.
