“Here is our bathroom. In’t it nice?”
…I have crappy awful Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. My dear, sweet, loving, masculine, rugged, athletic, handsome husband said he’d type out this post for me. After reading his first line, I decided to take over. Thanks, but no thanks, CB! :)
Let’s take this down a notch and take a stroll through memory lane…
Cue emotional background music…the kind that tugs at your heartstrings…
It all began with a beautiful basement bathroom…
…one that needed to be remodeled when we bought the house seven years ago.
Because of the awfulness of this bathroom and the state of the shower, this bathroom was only used for …ahem…potty biz-ness…
…and the seven of us dwelt (un)happily in one bathroom.
We decided it was FINALLY time to upgrade. So we put our boys to work. They were an awesome demo/clean up crew.
…and for your viewing pleasure (and because it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to have a short post…) please sit back and enjoy the rest of the post without commentary…
Eh! Who am I kidding?! I can’t keep my mouth shut! :) Here is The Hubsters with his dad and his brother working on the shower. Hubby is the sexy beast in the center of the picture. Rawr. :) Right…no commentary…
Hey baby! I likey the way you wear those safety glasses! I also likey the way you tile. Good job, Sweetums! :)
So, this project took F.O.R.E.V.E.R.
…and ever…
…and ever…
During this time we learned that whenever someone got into the shower, the six other people had to use the potty. Every.Single.Time.
Even Monkey was pounding on the bathroom door and he wears diapers.
I’ll even admit that there were times I was banging on the door saying, “Hurry, hurry, hurry! I reeealllyyy need to go!”
We decided we needed a deadline. Hubby and I worked our hind parts off all weekend and finished the bathroom Monday night. I cried tears of joy when the toilet was installed.
Here is the fruit of our labor:
(...chorus of angels singing…)
I hated the color of our vanity (it was oak-ish) with our dark tile and at the last minute--about 11:00 p.m. Saturday night--I decided to paint it. I LOVE the way it turned out! :) Please note that BEAUTIFULLY installed towel ring. I did that ALL.BY.MYSELF. I {heart} Hubby’s power tools. …and the color of paint we used. …and the tile…
Nice John. How about that toilet paper holder?! Yep. I installed that, too. What can I say?! I’m awesome! :) Ha ha ha…I’m joking. I’m not that conceited!
So, I mentioned that the Hubs and I worked late on Saturday night. We quit at midnight. You know, because of the Sabbath…and because we were e.x.h.a.u.s.t.e.d. What does this have to do with the owl art? Well, that is what I did during Sunday’s sessions of General Conference to stay awake. It worked. I didn’t fall asleep once. Deege was so impressed with my artwork that he wanted to hang it in the new bathroom. So we did.
Hubby had the bright (ha! I’m punny, too!) idea to install this light fixture so that we could angle the lights where we needed them in the bathroom.
Now we have light in the shower, over the pot, and in the direction of the sink/mirror/vanity. That Hubby. He sure is a smart guy! :)
So, what started out as a simple little, “We’ll just have to replace, this, this, and that…” turned into a “Oh. Crap. We have to gut the entire thing and start over…”
Lots’o’stress, but it’s finished and we all love it. Perfect.
Isn’t she lovely?!
This turned out great. Love the Owl picture as well. SUPER CUTE! Great job.
