My first ones I sewed shut after inserting the pillows. Yeah, not a good idea. Very awkward to handle on the machine and no way to wash them, except in an industrial sized machine at the laundromat. I have figured out that I can leave one side open and put buttons and buttonholes on them. It works pretty good so far. I like your idea of the fleece for a blanket. I might just have to try that. I also want to figure a way to roll them up and fasten them together with the ties.
